The European Commission has opened a call for young people between 21-30 to participate to a new forum on industry and youth entrepreneurship, in the framework of the “EU Industry Days” that will take place on 5-6 February 2019 in Brussels. The deadline is November the 30th, 2019.

The main goal of the forum is to appeal to young Europeans and discuss about the future of European industry, allowing them to share their ideas with speakers, stakeholders and high-lever entrepreneurs. It will be a chance to get to know the industrial landscape of European Union, its policy, issues and benefits, in order to explore them and get to new contents and premises.

The forum will be divided in two parts: during the first day, the main themes of globalisation, sustainability, digitalisation and innovation will be investigated and analysed in an interactive way, allowing the participants to get to know the different backgrounds from which the other colleagues and personalities come. During the second day, a more proactive part will come into place, with the participants working in teams that will collaborate for elaborating new strategies and actions in an European perspective. They will have to take into account the economic and financial situation of the Union, together with the necessities of local communities. The conclusions will be presented to the main Industry Day participants.

The selected applicants will be offered the journey to Brussels and the accommodation, that will be covered by the European Commission. Further informations (also on how to apply) are available at the Commission website.

The participants (up to 30) must comply with the following criteria:

  • Background in the field of industry, research, communication, business, sustainable economy, innovation, leadership etc.
  • EU citizen aged from 21 to 30 years old
  • Fluent in English (the working language of the forum will be English)
  • Clear motivation and eagerness to contribute innovative ideas to the thematic discussions
  • Good public speaking.

It will be the occasion for youngsters to be actively part of the European industrial strategy, set off by the President of the Commission Jean-Claude Junker in the annual State of the Union address of September 2017. Since then, the Industry Days have taken place once a year, bringing together the european industry world and the civil society in an ongoing dialogue.
