Background

The Fascia of Humanity project was created in response to growing mental health challenges and uncertainty among young people. These issues are often worsened by social, political, and environmental instability. The project recognized that youth workers play a key role in supporting young people, especially those with fewer opportunities. It focused on strengthening the capacity of youth workers to guide and uplift youth in need.

Objectives

The main goals of the project were to provide youth workers with tools to support young people’s mental health and inclusion, and to promote sustainable, inclusive youth work. The project also aimed to build long-term support networks among communities and institutions. Empowering youth workers to better address social challenges was central to improving young people’s resilience and well-being.

Implementation

The project featured a 7-day training course held in the mountains of Pohorje, Slovenia, in October 2024. Thirty youth workers from nine countries participated. The training focused on somatic learning, nature-based experiences, and non-formal education methods. Participants explored personal development and inclusive community-building through creative and reflective exercises.

Key Activities

Activities included workshops using movement, theater, and non-verbal communication to help participants better understand themselves and others. Group discussions explored how social challenges affect youth. Participants learned how to lead inclusive practices, design follow-up actions, and create safe environments where young people can express themselves and grow.

Results

The project helped youth workers gain new tools and confidence to support young people from vulnerable backgrounds. They improved their ability to connect with youth and lead inclusive initiatives. Through shared experiences, the participants built a network of support that will continue to benefit their local communities and organizations.

Impact

The project contributed to a stronger, more connected network of youth workers across Europe. It increased their motivation to support inclusion and mental well-being. As a result, young people in different countries will benefit from more compassionate, informed, and skilled guidance. The long-term effect is expected to improve youth integration, build resilience, and strengthen social unity.
