Background

The project Four Seasons Concerto was created in response to one of the most urgent global issues—climate change. Rising sea levels, disappearing wildlife, and extreme weather events show how serious global warming has become. Young people often lack access to information or tools to take action. This project aimed to raise awareness among youth and to help them understand how climate change affects the world, while promoting positive environmental behavior.

Objectives

The main goal of the project was to bring the topic of global warming to the attention of young people. It focused on increasing knowledge about the causes and effects of climate change and on showing participants what actions can help protect the planet. Other objectives included building environmental awareness, promoting equality and cultural exchange, involving youth with fewer opportunities, and encouraging non-discriminatory attitudes. The project also aimed to promote the Erasmus+ programme and international cooperation.

Implementation

The project involved 8 participants from each of the 7 partner countries, aged 18–27. Each group included youth with limited opportunities and a balance of genders. Some participants had no experience with environmental projects, while others were already active in this field. All were brought together for shared learning through creative and interactive methods. Activities were carefully designed to be inclusive, informative, and hands-on, combining both education and fun.

Key Activities

Several dynamic activities helped young people explore environmental topics in depth. A five-day training covered key facts about global warming. Participants conducted experiments showing the harm caused by fossil fuels and created models of a “renewable world” using solar, wind, and hydro energy. In the “Their Story” workshop, they wrote from the perspective of nature’s victims—animals, rivers, or trees—impacted by climate change. A field visit to the endangered Doruo River was combined with music and video to inspire creativity and reflection.

Results

The project successfully increased awareness about climate change among young people. Participants learned practical ways to reduce harmful behaviors and discovered how everyday actions can make a difference. They also developed teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Through storytelling and hands-on workshops, youth understood the real-life impact of global warming. They returned home more motivated to protect the environment and share their new knowledge with others in their communities.

Impact

The project had both short- and long-term effects. In the short term, it brought climate change into conversations among young people and encouraged more research and awareness. Long term, it aimed to change behaviors—promoting energy-saving habits, rejecting harmful stereotypes, and involving youth in environmental advocacy. By reaching out to financially and socially disadvantaged youth, the project supported inclusion and equal opportunity. It also helped promote European values such as solidarity, diversity, and environmental responsibility.
