Have you heard of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC)? It’s one of the EU’s programs that gives young people the chance to do volunteering, solidarity, and community work both close to home and abroad. Since 2018, more than 100,000 young people have been part of ESC—and it has made a big difference. But now, the program needs more support to do even more.
There’s a new petition going around, organized by the GloRe Network. They’re asking more people—especially youth, NGOs, and anyone who cares—to raise their voices so ESC can grow, become more inclusive, and reach even more people.
🔍 What’s the Issue?
Even though ESC has done a lot, there are challenges:
- Not enough money (budget) means many organizations can’t fully support volunteers, especially those coming from difficult backgrounds.
- Too much bureaucracy, complicated rules makes it hard for smaller or newer organizations to take part.
- Organizations that help young people participate (called “Supporting Organisations”) often don’t get enough recognition or backing, even though they do essential work.
📋 What GloRe Proposes
The petition suggests three main changes to make ESC stronger:
- A bigger & reinforced budget — so all young people, especially those who are more vulnerable or excluded right now, have access to high-quality, supported opportunities.
- Greater recognition and support for the organizations helping young people reach ESC—those that prepare, accompany, and support volunteers.
- Clearer rules + less bureaucracy—to make things easier, faster, and more inclusive.
🤝 Why Your Support Matters
By signing, you’re joining a movement that wants ESC to be more powerful, fair, and accessible. Whether as a volunteer, youth worker, or just someone who believes in solidarity and inclusion—you can help push for a program that does what it’s meant to: bring people together, help those most in need, and build stronger communities.
GloRe’s research for this petition is solid—98 organizations from 18 countries contributed, plus insights from the official 2025 evaluation of ESC. Your signature joins many others who say “yes” to better opportunities for everyone.
