Countries Involved: Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Estonia

Project Background

The D.R.O.N.E. – Direct Route On New Experience project was created to respond to two important challenges faced by young people: limited opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills and insufficient access to digital and creative education. Many young people from smaller communities have difficulties finding new career opportunities, especially in modern digital fields.

The project focused on drone technology as an innovative area that combines creativity, digital skills, and entrepreneurship. By introducing young people to drone operation and content creation, the project aimed to show new possibilities for personal and professional development.

Project Objectives

The main goal of D.R.O.N.E. was to help young people develop practical skills in drone operation and encourage them to explore entrepreneurial opportunities. The project aimed to increase participants’ confidence in using digital technologies and creating their own ideas and projects.

Another important objective was to raise awareness about how drone-related skills can support future employment opportunities. Participants learned how digital competences, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset can help them become more active in their communities and professional life.

Participants and Inclusion

The project involved 40 young people from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Estonia. Participants were mainly between 16 and 19 years old and came from regions with fewer opportunities to access digital education and international learning experiences.

The project also included 18 young people facing different barriers, such as limited economic opportunities, geographical challenges, or fewer educational resources. Together with group leaders, experts, and facilitators, participants created an inclusive environment based on teamwork, creativity, and international cooperation.

Project Implementation

The main activity of the project was a youth exchange held in Elniakampis, Lithuania, from 28 October to 6 November 2025. During the exchange, participants explored four main areas: team building, entrepreneurship, drone operation, and project presentation.

The programme combined theoretical sessions with practical activities. Participants learned about different types of drones, programming, photography and video creation, mapping, 3D modelling, drone maintenance, and the use of drone-generated content for communication and creative projects.

Learning Activities and Methods

The project used non-formal learning methods, including workshops, discussions, teamwork exercises, and practical challenges. Participants developed their skills through direct experience and cooperation with peers from different European countries.

A special focus was placed on entrepreneurship. Young people explored how drone skills could be used for freelancing, creating digital products, promoting ideas, and developing future professional opportunities. They also organised a public exhibition presenting drone-generated content created during the project.

Key Results and Achievements

The project helped participants improve their digital skills, creativity, communication abilities, and entrepreneurial thinking. More than 80% of participants reported that they gained or improved drone operation skills to a level that could support future professional activities.

Participants created practical results, including drone projects, promotional materials, videos, newsletters, and online content. They also developed stronger confidence, improved teamwork skills, and gained a better understanding of international cooperation.

Impact on Communities and Organisations

The project created a positive impact not only for participants but also for partner organisations and local communities. Through the public exhibition and dissemination activities, young people shared their knowledge and demonstrated how technology can be used to create positive change.

Partner organisations strengthened their experience in digital education, youth participation, and international cooperation. The project also encouraged future initiatives focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.

Conclusion

D.R.O.N.E. – Direct Route On New Experience showed how digital technologies can open new opportunities for young people. By combining drone education, entrepreneurship, and international learning, the project helped participants develop skills that can support their future careers and personal growth.

The project encouraged young people to become more confident, creative, and active members of their communities while showing the potential of digital innovation in youth work.
