Status: Completed
Duration: February 2025 – February 2026
EU Grant: €33,330
Programme: Erasmus+
Action Type: Mobility of Young People
Countries Involved: Lithuania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Italy

Project Background

Go Green was created to help young people develop stronger environmental awareness and adopt more sustainable lifestyles. The project responded to the growing need to reconnect young people with nature after the COVID-19 pandemic, when many spent more time online and less time outdoors.

The project encouraged participants to understand the importance of protecting natural resources and inspired them to become more responsible citizens who actively contribute to a greener future.

Project Objectives

The main objective was to promote green thinking, environmental responsibility, and active participation among young people aged 14–18. Through outdoor education and non-formal learning, participants explored topics such as sustainability, upcycling, eco-friendly camping, and responsible use of natural resources.

The project also aimed to strengthen communication, teamwork, intercultural understanding, and social skills while encouraging young people to become more confident, active, and engaged in their local communities.

Project Implementation

The project included two main activities: a preparatory visit and an international youth exchange. During the preparatory meeting, partner organisations reviewed the programme, agreed on responsibilities, and prepared practical arrangements to ensure a successful exchange.

The six-day youth exchange took place in Klevinė, Lithuania, and brought together 40 participants from Lithuania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Italy. The programme was based on outdoor education, non-formal learning, and active participation, giving young people opportunities to learn through practical experiences and teamwork.

Key Activities

Participants took part in workshops, interactive games, outdoor challenges, and group activities focused on sustainability and environmental protection. They learned practical skills related to upcycling, nature-friendly living, and responsible behaviour while developing leadership, cooperation, and problem-solving abilities.

The project placed a strong emphasis on inclusion by supporting 16 young people with fewer opportunities, which was twice the number originally planned. This created a diverse and supportive learning environment where everyone could participate equally.

Project Results

The project helped participants develop important personal, social, and civic competences. Many became more confident, resilient, and motivated to protect the environment through everyday actions. They also improved their communication, teamwork, foreign language, and intercultural skills while building new friendships across Europe.

Participants gained practical knowledge about sustainable living and became more aware of the role they can play in creating positive environmental change in their communities.

Impact on Participants and Organisations

The project strengthened the skills of youth workers and partner organisations by improving their experience in international cooperation, project management, and non-formal education. It also expanded partnerships and created a strong foundation for future Erasmus+ projects.

After the exchange, many participants continued promoting environmental awareness by organising local activities and encouraging others to adopt greener lifestyles. Dissemination materials, including videos, vlogs, presentations, and a project diary, helped share the project’s results with a wider audience.

Long-Term Impact

Go Green demonstrated that international youth exchanges can inspire lasting environmental awareness, active citizenship, and social inclusion. By combining outdoor learning with intercultural cooperation, the project empowered young people to become more responsible, environmentally conscious, and active members of society.

The knowledge, practical skills, and international partnerships developed during the project will continue supporting sustainable initiatives and youth engagement across Europe.
