The GreenTour project, titled “Green Entrepreneurship through Sustainable Eco-Tourism”, is a groundbreaking Erasmus+ initiative aimed at fostering green skills and promoting sustainable practices through eco-tourism. Running from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, the project has secured a €250,000 grant under the Erasmus+ Partnerships for Cooperation and Exchanges of Practices. It engages five European countries and focuses on empowering youth, especially in rural and semi-rural areas.
Project Goals and Objectives
GreenTour seeks to become a European educational benchmark in non-formal education, particularly for youth. By linking eco-tourism with climate action and sustainability, the project aims to unlock the socio-economic potential of green entrepreneurship. This is particularly relevant for youth and youth workers in remote areas, where sustainable tourism can create meaningful opportunities for personal and community growth.
Key Activities
The project’s structure includes five comprehensive work packages (WPs) designed to achieve its objectives:
- Project Management and Follow-Up (WP1): Ensures smooth execution and coordination.
- Eco-Tourism Framework Development (WP2): Tailors an eco-tourism model specifically for youth, youth workers, and eco-tourists.
- Innovative Online Course (WP3): Delivers interactive learning opportunities focused on sustainable eco-tourism practices.
- Youth Exchange in Guadeloupe (WP4): Provides a practical experience supported by a Project Handbook and a Capacity-Building Toolkit.
- Dissemination and Final Conference (WP5): Shares results widely and culminates in an international event in Spain with 50 attendees.
Expected Impact
Over its two-year duration, GreenTour aims to deliver impactful outcomes in multiple languages, including English, French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, and Dutch. Notable results include:
- A Comparative Research Report featuring a tailored eco-tourism competency framework.
- A fully developed online course benefiting over 150 participants.
- A Handbook and Capacity-Building Toolkit to support sustainable practices.
- Enhanced visibility through a project website and active social media presence.
- A successful Final Conference showcasing insights and achievements to stakeholders.
