In an era where sexual health and gender equality remain pressing issues, the SNAP – Sexuality Intimacy Art Podcast project has emerged as a groundbreaking initiative. Completed in May 2023, SNAP stands as a beacon for education, creativity, and inclusivity, focusing on addressing key challenges in sexual education across Europe.
Why SNAP?
Recent studies, such as the 2013 WHO report and the 2014 FRA survey, reveal concerning trends: rising rates of STIs, unintended pregnancies, and gender-based violence among European youth. Moreover, traditional sexual education often emphasizes negative aspects while neglecting the promotion of healthy relationships and self-expression.
SNAP was designed to fill this gap, offering innovative tools and methodologies for Sexuality and Relationship Education (SRE). By combining creative arts, podcasting, and non-formal pedagogy, the project empowers both youth professionals and young people to foster healthier, more equal, and stigma-free approaches to intimacy and sexuality.
Key Achievements
SNAP’s efforts spanned three countries—France, Serbia, and Ireland—delivering impactful results:
- Youth Empowerment: Through workshops and artistic co-creation, 290 young people gained skills to navigate relationships with confidence and equality.
- Professional Training: Youth workers received training in innovative tools, including 23 audio resources, 17 educational videos, and 15 artistic creations, all aimed at enriching SRE.
- Accessible Resources: A comprehensive online platform offers interactive toolkits, videos, and podcasts, reaching a broad audience.
Engaging Workshops & Events
SNAP facilitated 300 hours of workshops and hosted 15 outreach events, directly connecting with over 600 participants. By merging creativity with learning, the project tackled stereotypes, encouraged dialogue, and celebrated diversity.
Why It Matters
SNAP’s mission is more than education—it’s a movement for change. By addressing gender biases, fostering open conversations, and integrating digital skills, the project redefines how we approach sexual education. The podcast format allows peer-to-peer storytelling, making sensitive topics relatable and engaging.
