Introduction

The Erasmus+ Programme offers vital support to sports organisations, by providing opportunities for their staff to enhance their competences and acquire new skills.

This initiative is part of the broader aim to promote inclusion, diversity, environmental sustainability, digital education, and civic engagement.

Through projects lasting from 3 to 18 months, participating organisations can empower their staff, helping them grow professionally while contributing to the development of sports across Europe.

Who can apply?

To benefit from this programme, organisations must meet certain eligibility criteria:

  • Public or private sports organisations at the grassroots level, such as non-profit organisations, local public authorities, and sports clubs.
  • Non-grassroots sports organisations, provided their participation benefits grassroots sports, like international organisations.
  • Organisations based in an EU Member State or a third country associated with the Erasmus+ Programme.

It’s important to note that each organisation can apply for only one project per selection round.

Activities supported

The Erasmus+ Mobility for Sport Staff programme supports two key types of activities:

  1. Job Shadowing and Observation Periods: Lasting between 2 to 14 days, these activities allow participants to observe and learn from other organisations, gaining insights into different working practices.
  2. Coaching or Training Assignments: Spanning 15 to 60 days, these assignments enable staff to actively participate in coaching or training roles, applying their skills in new environments and learning through hands-on experience.

Venue and participants

All activities must take place abroad, in an EU Member State or a third country associated with the Erasmus+ Programme.

Each project can involve a maximum of 10 participants, ensuring a focused and impactful experience for those involved.

Where and when to apply

Applications must be submitted to the National Agency in the country where the applicant organisation is based. The next deadline for 2024 is:

  • 1 October 2024, 12.00 (midday Brussels time): For projects starting between 1 January and 31 May 2025.

Conclusion

The Erasmus+ Mobility for Sport Staff initiative is an opportunity for organisations in the sports sector to develop their staff’s skills and knowledge.
