Project Background

The EUREDEAS project was created to bring together youth workers from different European countries who support young refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers. Although organisations often face similar challenges, they rarely have opportunities to exchange ideas and learn from each other.

The project aimed to improve the quality of youth work by sharing practical experience, discussing migration issues, and building stronger international cooperation.

Project Objectives

The main objective of the project was to create a European network of youth professionals working with migrant and refugee communities. Participants exchanged good practices, innovative methods, and practical tools that could improve their daily work.

Another important goal was to better understand migration policies, integration processes, cultural diversity, and the needs of young people between the ages of 13 and 35. The project also encouraged the development of future Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps partnerships.

Participants and International Cooperation

The project involved 23 participants representing youth organisations from ten European countries. The group included youth workers, educators, and volunteers with experience in supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and migrant communities.

Bringing together participants with different cultural and professional backgrounds created an open environment for dialogue, mutual learning, and the exchange of successful approaches.

Project Implementation

The project was organised in three phases: preparation, an international seminar, and follow-up evaluation. The main seminar took place in Vigo, Spain, from 17 to 21 June 2024.

Participants had already met online before the seminar, allowing them to begin discussions and prepare common objectives. During the meeting in Vigo, they strengthened cooperation through interactive workshops, presentations, and group discussions.

Learning Activities

The programme included thematic working groups focused on migration law, refugee protection, social inclusion, psychological support, cultural integration, and youth participation. Participants shared experiences from their own countries and explored common challenges.

The discussions encouraged open dialogue and practical problem-solving. Participants also presented successful projects, exchanged educational methods, and explored new ways to improve services for young migrants and refugees.

Raising Awareness and Building Networks

One of the project’s highlights was its contribution to World Refugee Day on 20 June. Participants joined a public awareness event in Vigo that focused on the experiences of young refugees and migrants under the age of 30.

The activity helped raise awareness within the local community while promoting Erasmus+ opportunities and the importance of inclusion, diversity, and active citizenship.

Project Results

EUREDEAS successfully created a strong international network of organisations committed to improving youth work with migrants and refugees. Participants exchanged valuable knowledge, practical tools, and innovative methodologies that can now be applied in their own organisations.

The project also inspired several ideas for future cooperation, including new Erasmus+ initiatives and joint international activities focused on migration, social inclusion, and youth empowerment.

Long-Term Impact

The experience strengthened participants’ professional competences and increased their understanding of migration challenges across Europe. It also improved cooperation between partner organisations and encouraged long-term collaboration.

By promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and shared learning, EUREDEAS contributed to building more inclusive communities and supporting young migrants and refugees through better quality youth work across Europe.
